G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR) signaling pathways, coupling to adenyly cyclases (ACs) and cAMP signaling, constitute the central signaling pathway for activating lipolysis and energy expenditure in thermogenic adipocytes. In this project, we will study the function of GPCRs and ACs specifically expressed in brown and beige adipose tissue and their regulation depending on the activation status of thermogenic AT in vitro and in vivo. Thereby, we will unravel how GPCR/AC signaling adapts to physiological and pathological stimuli in the context of adaptive thermogenesis and systemic energy metabolism.
