Project P05
Relevance of endothelial lipoprotein processing for thermogenic adipose tissue plasticity and function
© JH
For replenishment of energy stores in response to cold-induced thermogenesis, brown and beige adipocytes internalize large amounts of fatty acids that are delivered by triglyceride-rich lipoproteins (TRL). In addition, whole TRL particles are internalized by vascular endothelial cells (ECs) of activated brown fat. In this project, we want to decipher the mechanism of receptor-mediated particle uptake and the subsequent intracellular processing of TRL lipid components by ECs. The relevance of these processes will be studied in the context of adaptive thermogenesis and systemic energy metabolism.
